  1. In a shallow saucepan add tap water and ½cup of sugar. Allow to simmer on medium heat without stirring.

  7. If using a plastic bottle, let syrup cool for not less than 15minutes. Then sit the bottle upright in a bowl of water as the syrup is poured in. Let cool then close the lid. It will keep at room temperature for a couple of months. I sterilized an empty Hullets bottle and filled it with my homemade golden syrup.
